How we got here
Every product started as somebody's mess
LoanKit exists because a lending office was reconciling collectors against a notebook and losing the argument. ScenDrive exists because businesses here keep client files on free overseas accounts and cannot say where they sit. The community platform exists because a membership organisation had beneficiaries recorded in four places and no two agreed.
None of them started as a product idea. They started as an operational problem that we were close enough to understand properly, and each one still runs for the business it was built for.
That shapes how we work. We are more interested in what breaks at month end than in what demos well.
How we operate
Four things we hold to
Build for the person doing the work
The collector on a motorcycle with one bar of signal is the real user, not the owner looking at a dashboard. If it does not work for them, the data will be wrong and the dashboard is a fiction.
Own the consequences
We host what we build. A shortcut taken during development becomes our problem at 2am, which is a useful incentive.
Say the uncomfortable thing early
Scope that will not fit the budget, a feature that will cause a compliance problem, a request we think is a mistake. Better said at the quote than at handover.
Keep the record honest
Audit trails, effectivity dates and confirmation steps are not glamorous. They are what lets an organisation answer a hard question a year later.
