AI chatbots and agents
An assistant is only useful if it answers from your information rather than making something up. We build them against your own documents and records, with a clear line for when they should stop and fetch a human.
The problem with a general chatbot on a business site is that it is confident about things it does not know. It will invent a price, promise a delivery date, or describe a service you do not offer, and the customer will believe it because it is on your website. That is worse than no chatbot.
We build assistants the other way round. They answer from a defined set of your own material, they say plainly when something is outside it, and they hand over to a person with the conversation history attached rather than making the customer start again.
What can an assistant actually do?
Answer from your documents
Policies, manuals, price lists, terms and procedures. It quotes what you have written rather than improvising, and you control what is in scope.
Look things up in your system
Where it makes sense, the assistant can check a real record, such as an application status or an account balance, with the same permission rules your staff work under.
Hand over cleanly
When it reaches the edge of what it knows, or the customer asks for a person, it passes the whole conversation to your team rather than dumping the customer at a contact form.
Work internally too
The same approach helps staff, who often spend more time looking for the right procedure than following it.
Draft, classify and extract
Sorting incoming messages, pulling fields out of documents, and drafting replies for a person to approve rather than sending unreviewed.
Stay reviewable
Conversations are logged so you can see what it told people. An assistant you cannot audit is a liability.
Questions
What do people ask about ai chatbots and agents?
Will it make things up?
That is the risk we design against. It answers from a defined set of your material rather than general knowledge, and it is built to say when something is outside that set. No system is perfect, which is why conversations are logged and why anything sensitive is routed to a person instead.
Where does our data go?
We will tell you exactly which model provider is used and what is sent to it before you agree to anything. If that is not acceptable for your records, say so at scoping and we will design around it or tell you plainly that we cannot.
Can it take payments or change records?
It can be given the ability to act, but we are deliberately conservative about it. Anything that moves money or changes a record is either confirmed by a person or restricted to actions that are safe to undo.
What does it cost to run?
There is a build cost and a running cost, because the model provider charges per use. We will estimate the running cost from your expected volume and tell you what would make it expensive, so there is no surprise on the second month.
Tell us what you are trying to fix
Send a short description of the problem rather than a feature list. If we are a fit, we will come back with an approach and a price. If we are not, we will say so.
